I have come to the conclusion that my theme for this year is officially “embracing the unknown”. I have shared two huge updates on the blog recently, but if you are new around here, I’ll just simplify things by saying that our lives have changed pretty drastically over the past 6 months.

Although my perfectly planned “timeline of events” has not gone as expected, I have already come to accept that the bigger plan in place (the one we cannot see or write down on paper) is so much more beautiful and transformative than I could have imagined.

I had no idea at the start of 2020 that we would be moving (again) from our rental townhome that we had settled into less than a year ago.

Buying our first home was not on my radar, but then again neither was getting diagnosed with an auto-immune disease or experiencing a pandemic. I believe that I can speak for all of us when I say that this year has kept us on our toes thus far.

Owning a home has been a dream of mine and Sam’s for many years, so even though the timing hasn’t been ideal, we are feeling incredibly thankful for the opportunity to make this move.

Over the weekend, we toured our second round of potential homes and ended up finding “the one”. It was the only house that truly felt like home from the moment that we pulled up out front.

After a quick back and forth with the seller, we officiated our decision with a signed contract on Easter Sunday and celebrated with a batch of bourbon cocktails and a 90’s dance party in our kitchen.

We still have a home inspection to get through, so we are staying cautiously optimistic at this point. That being said, in the meantime, my evenings have been filled with reruns of Fixer Upper and hours of saving inspiration to secret Pinterest boards. I haven’t been able to stop myself from dreaming up what our space will look like once we get the opportunity to decorate and make it our own.

Aside from a few projects like tearing up the old carpet upstairs and adding fresh tile or shiplap to some rooms, the majority of the “transformation” in our new home will come from fresh paint, furniture, and decor.

Since we are all spending so much time inside our homes during this pandemic, I figured that there couldn’t possibly be a better opportunity to join us in hitting the “refresh” button on your own space. For me, I know that sometimes even the smallest additions like a plant, new wall art, or a beautiful rug can create an enormous shift in how a room makes me feel.

From tiny styling accessories to large furniture items, lighting fixtures, tile, and more, I am rounding up my favorite home decor pieces below!
