Off the Shoulder Bodycon Dress in NYC

If you've been following along on Instagram, you saw that we made a quick trip to NYC a few weekends back. It's no secret that New York is one of the major fashion hubs in the world and has some of the most incredible landmarks to shoot at so, needless to say, the destination had been on my "goal list" for quite some time. Jade, from Jade Nikkole Photography, and I were discussing it one day after a shoot in Baltimore, and I finally decided to make the leap to start planning.

Sam may have thought I was losing my mind. Actually, scratch that - he definitely thought I was losing my mind. We are in the process of planning (and budgeting for) a destination wedding for this Summer, I had a long list collaborations already set for the month, and he was traveling for work constantly. But, I mulled it over, and had a little pep talk with myself as I penciled it in on my calendar. I decided I had been putting it off for long enough and it was, essentially, now or never. I decided to book our rooms and figure out the rest in the weeks to come.

I hadn't visited New York since I was 17 so, I desperately wanted to witness firsthand the fashion of NYC as a blogger. Let me just tell you babes, I have never in my life seen more designer handbags, fashion bloggers, and photographers in one place. I am a city girl at heart, but being in New York on a busy Saturday as opposed to Baltimore is a totally different scene. I swear my heart was pounding out of my chest with excitement and adrenaline since we arrived at the hotel.

When I began planning, one thing I knew for sure was that I had to visit the Sezane store in SoHo. This gorgeous boutique is well-known for their intricate floral display on their windows, and feminine taste in fashion. I could have spent hours inside just admiring their styling and layout and, let's be honest, trying on every last blush pink piece they carry.

Now, can we please talk about this Off the Shoulder mini dress by Tobi? It's on sale right now for $35! I'll be honest, I probably haven't worn a bodycon dress since high school, but when I saw this piece in their new Spring arrivals, I just knew that it had to be mine. The crochet pattern and the nude/dusty rose color was super flattering, and for a signature short girl (I'm 5'1"), this dress made me feel like I had legs for days.

Also, because the dress was already a statement piece on its own, it was extremely easy for me to style this look with a simple pair of nude platform heels and classic sunnies

Later in the day after shooting this look, I swapped out my heels for blush pink sneakers and draped a nude cashmere sweater over my shoulders to shop around New York. It was such an easy transition from a fancy, date night look to a relaxed, weekend vibe.
