Stars and Stripes / Affordable Summer Style

Ah, stars and stripes and the Summer heat. That's when you know it's officially July in Maryland. As an early celebration for the Fourth of July, my family and Sam's family came together last weekend in Tilghman Island for a photo shoot, backyard cook-out, and lots of games. Of course, Jade Nikkole Photography was there to capture it all. We had fun hanging out at the insanely gorgeous Wylder Hotel on the Eastern Shore (with this Notebook-worthy swing in their front yard), and cracking jokes at each other every time we posed for the camera.

My stars and stripes blouse fit in perfectly with the theme of our day, and I have been wearing it non-stop since. I'm loving the color and sleeves for dressing up at work, and dressing down on the weekends. I snagged it for less than $20 at Macy's Backstage, when I attended their Grand Opening at the Annapolis Mall. Ever since I can remember, I have always loved Macy's for their stylish clothing and affordable prices. So, when they reached out to me about partnering with them for Macy's Backstage, needless to say, I was on board 100 percent. It was one of those, "is this really my job!?" moments; pure thankfulness. Macy's Backstage is now open in 13 different states and carries everything from designer shoes (I fell in love with a pair of Gucci loafers), to beauty products, leather handbags, clothing, accessories, home decor, and so much more. And the best thing is that all of the latest trends are marked way down!

I shared a few of the items I bought at Macy's Backstage on Instagram stories, and I know that a lot of you were shocked at how inexpensive my new home office rug was. I had been stalking this particular Morrocan-inspired white and grey rug online for, no joke, like 2 years. It was SO pretty and I knew it would tie together the colors and feminine theme of my office, but every time I saw it, the size I wanted was well over $300. So, I kept it in the back of my mind, making due with the rustic-style rug I had purchased when I first designed my space. When I saw the exact same one in the home section of Macy's Backstage during their grand opening and checked the price tag, I literally squealed. Sam rushed over to me because he thought something was wrong until I turned around with the biggest smile on my face and said "will you please take this to the register now before someone else sees it?" I'm selfish, what can I say? I felt like I hit the decor jackpot and I was not about to let it slip away. It was only $78!

Not only did I find the perfect rug, but I also scored a pair of insanely gorgeous Betsy Johnson satin crystal pumps for my bridal shower (and our rehearsal dinner) for under $40, and a crystal embellished envelope clutch to match for only $15. I can't tell ya'll enough how much I was surprised by the quality and affordable prices of Macy's Backstage; I was truly in heaven!
