3 Must-Have Accessories for Spring
We are officially into May which means more reasons to enjoy outdoor activities like weddings, holidays, date nights, and even simple (or… not-so-simple) picnics.
We’ve reached the stage now, at least in Maryland, where we can finally accessorize light, flowy dresses without turning blue from the cold OR sweating our deodorant off. It is that magical few months that made me fall in love with the East Coast in the first place.
I couldn’t be happier to swap out my heavy jackets, gloves, and beanies for the more exciting Spring accessories like colorful sunglasses, jean jackets, and bamboo clutches.
While I’ve been styling new looks to wear and shoot in this warmer weather, these are the 3 accessories I have been gravitating toward time and time again:
1. Vintage-Inspired Sunglasses
The pair that I have been wearing on repeat over the past 2 months are the above pictured round sunglasses in Rose Gold. The style also comes in 2 other colors but, I personally love this timeless shade for Spring because it adds a carefree and fun pop of color without going overboard or coming across as cheesy. It’s also technically pink, so are you surprised?
The Westend Highbanks from Discount Glasses are an excellent dupe for the Ray Ban Icons glasses that ya’ll love so much, but with a colorful twist AND less than half the price. Which means you can totally justify treating yourself to 2 pairs!
Discount Glasses has quickly become one of my most-trusted brands this year. Not only are they super affordable, excellent quality, and have the best customer service, but you can add prescription lenses to any pair you choose. It has never been easier to keep the balance of stylish and practical in tact.
The other glasses I recently ordered from Discount Glasses for Spring are the prescription Westend Innis Gardens. The shade, “Pearl Peach”, is a classic light pink and compliments my feminine wardrobe staples for the office to showcase my personality while remaining professional.
These glasses are also available in non-prescription lenses if you simply want a cute accessory to dress up your business-casual look. I totally used this tactic in high-school and college before I actually needed glasses (I *swore* that it made me look put-together on days when I just rolled out of bed)!
2. Jean Jacket
Can you tell that I’m obsessed with denim this season? I recently shared a full blog post about how to find the perfect white jean jacket (AND another one on how to style high-waisted jeans), but I had to include this classic accessory in my roundup because I truly have not been able to put mine away.
You can almost guarantee that if I’m leaving the house this Spring and Summer, I will have a jean jacket either draped over my shoulders or tied around my waist.
No matter whether you’re going for a dressier look or more casual, you can never go wrong with a jean jacket. Having one on hand in white and traditional blue is always a good idea for styling a fashionable, yet effortless look.
Try it with: a white or pastel graphic tee, maxi dress, or jumpsuit!
3. Hand-Woven Clutch
This vacation-style accessory that has gained momentum over the past 3 years is back and in my opinion will forever be a staple in our Spring and Summer wardrobes. The bamboo and straw designs are ideal for dressing up a flowy maxi dress, colorful romper, and even your bathing suit and cover-up at the pool or beach.
Since they began popping up on blogs, my social media feeds, and Fashion Week, I have fallen in love with the classic design. Over the past few years, I have curated my personal collection of hand-woven clutches, ranging from $15-75. They never fail to make a statement or get compliments while we are out and about, and they truly save the day when I don’t want to lug around a large purse.
Most of these fit the necessities like your phone, credit cards, and keys while forcing you to lose the junk, Marie Kondo-style.
After our picnic, Sam dubbed this floral maxi dress by ChicWish his favorite yet this season. Personally, I think he’s just a fan of the super exposed leg with the slit up the side, but honestly I can’t even blame him. This dress shows off the best assets without going overboard. The deep V in the front is offset by the long sleeves, and the high slit compliments the loose, flowy design to a T.
The great thing about this dress is that it is totally customizable, too. The waist has an adjustable ribbon to tie so you can make it as tight or loose as you want, and the full front of the dress is button-down, so you can show off your chest and leg as you wish.
The floral design and shades of pastel just scream Spring to me, and I know that this maxi will be worn on repeat for everything from rooftop happy hours to daytime weddings, and even date nights since the Mr keeps mentioning it. ;)
In regards to the fit, if you have a small bust like me, I recommend sizing down as this dress was a little on the larger side.
Thank you Discount Glasses for sponsoring this post! All words and opinions are my own.
