How to Wear the Same Outfit in 2 Different Ways
One of the biggest things that brings me joy as a fashion blogger is discovering and styling pieces in a way that embodies my personal style and gives me the confidence that I need in my day-to-day life (and, in turn, helping you do the same). I bet you wouldn’t guess that the “blouse” I’m wearing in these 2 looks is actually a swimsuit cover-up. Sometimes discovering items can simply mean taking a closer peek inside your closet and finding a piece to style in an entirely new way.
An item like this midi skirt (my newest obsession) from ChicWish is a great example of a transitional piece that can be styled in so many different ways year-round. With the neutral colors and classic pattern, it is the perfect skirt for adding a bold and fun element to any look. I can see myself pairing it with a bodysuit and ankle boots in the Fall, a pastel pink tank top with a jean jacket in the Spring, and even a soft sweater and tights in the Winter.
Summertime for me is typically filled with outdoor events, impromptu weekends away, happy hours with friends, and afternoons spent at our local Farmers’ Market downtown. Oftentimes, I’ll find myself going straight from a casual, afternoon event to meet Sam for date night at an intimate restaurant. Rather than rushing home to change my entire look, with outfits like these, I know that I can quickly swap out a couple key items (in this case: my sneakers and hat) for a more elevated, evening look.
A combo like this can also be useful for creating a capsule wardrobe for vacation when you want to pack lightly while making sure you’re prepared for anything that might pop up!
My best tips for wearing the same outfit in 2 different ways:
Switch up your hair - add/remove a hat, scrunchie, headband, or barrettes, or throw it into a sexy low-bun (I do this in 5 seconds by twisting my hair into a low bun, pulling out a couple face-framing pieces, and loosening the top to add volume).
Change your lip color - bold red lipstick (my personal favorite) can go a long way for a romantic date night with your partner or girls’ night out on the town. If you’re changing up your lip during the day, add a pale pink shade with a gloss (my personal favorite) to give you a flirty, girl-next-door look.
Swap out your shoes - slide on a pair of sneakers or flats for your daytime look, and strappy open-toe heels or pointed toe pumps for evening.
Don’t forget your bag - grab a chic backpack or carryall bag for daytime, and clutch for evening.
