Style Essentials for a Cozy Date Night
Hey Summer, I think we should see other people, k? I’m over you and your sticky heat making my hair frizzy, my sunglasses slip and slide on the bridge of my nose, and melting my skinny jeans deep into my skin. Don’t take it personal, but I’ve been low-key eyeing chunky knit sweaters and snakeskin booties for a few weeks now, and I think it’s finally time to jump ship.
Now that the weather will be cooling off here shortly *crosses fingers, turns sweater inside out, and does a weird dance*, more than anything I’m looking forward to the feeling of coziness.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely looking forward to cinnamon apple and oats candles burning, pumpkin spice flavored everything, and colorful leaves falling from oak trees. But, you know what all of those things have in common? They all cause this innate desire to cozy up.
Fall does something to me. It makes me get a little extra sentimental, a bit more romantic, and reminds me to slow down and soak it all in.
I feel like it’s also the season that traditionally holds my favorite date nights. Fall isn’t as crazy packed for us as Winter is, so we tend to spend more time at home just the two of us cozying up with candles, take-out, and a movie on demand.
Other times, an evening walk in our neighborhood or a picnic at the park near our house is the perfect way to spend quality time.
Since we moved to Williamsburg, we have been exploring our new town. One place that I know is going to become a staple in our Fall date nights is an old school movie theatre that serves dinner and has extra cushiony seats.
Sam and I went for the first time last week to see Lion King for our wedding anniversary (since we already had our big celebration in Canada) and it did not disappoint. On our walk back home, we were already talking about our plans to make movie night + burgers and milkshakes at Five Guys a new tradition.
Ok… so where does style come into place in this story? Since my first Fall try-on haul last weekend, I have been wearing this blush pink cropped sweater on repeat. I’ve been styling it with skinny jeans, leggings, sweatpants; you name it. It is beyond cozy because the fabric is so buttery soft and the fit is nice and loose without looking sloppy.
It got me to dreaming about all of the cozy outfits I’ll be wearing for date nights this Fall, and next thing I knew, my shopping cart was full and my wallet empty.
I figured that if I had already done the shopping part of the equation, I obviously had a responsibility to share my favorite pieces with you. After all, I know you’re looking forward to sending the Summer heat packing and trading in your sweat-soaked bathing suits for chunky knit sweaters too.
My cozy style equation: super soft oversized sweater + skinny jeans or leggings + cute accessories = stylish and comfy date night!
