How to Nail the Trendy Two-Piece Suit Look
Women’s two-piece suits are quickly taking over in the fashion world - and for good reason. Gone are the days of dull, black suits that you were forced into by your college professors for the one public speaking presentation you had to give all semester. It’s really no wonder that I formed a resentment toward blazers and trousers back in the day. The ones I was always choosing were practically guaranteed to be stiff, unflattering, and worst of all, BORING.
Among some of the greatest trends over the past couple years, one of my favorite is hands-down the trendy, feminine and, sometimes sexy, two-piece suits. From soft blush pink tones to silky satin fabric, faux feather details, belted waists, and more, I simply cannot help myself.
I recently shared a try-on haul on Instagram Stories with Princess Polly (discount code below) where I styled two new blazers (this boyfriend blazer and a fitted, belted blazer). I knew immediately upon finding them that they would become staples in my wardrobe. The fabric and fit of both of them are on-trend and the colors are so versatile. You can truly pair them with anything; from a sexy satin mini dress to ripped jeans and a basic bodysuit.
I can’t wait to continue styling these pieces in different ways and challenge myself to make them a part of my capsule collection year-round.
When purchasing staple pieces like blazers and trousers, I recommend sticking with light, neutral tones. Colors like cream, beige, and nude pink look great on any skin tone and lay the building blocks for a chic foundation to build upon. This way you’re able to mix and match while remaining in one sophisticated color palette to create entirely new looks each time.
You can always add in bold color with trendy accessories, lipstick, or even a pair of pointed toe pumps. As shown in this look, I paired a silky champagne set and a nude pink boyfriend blazer with a bright red beret and bag. I feel like the pops of color added the perfect amount of romance without taking away from the faux fur trim or going way over the top.
This outfit would be ideal for Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day coming up, a special date night, happy hour, or an evening event!
