5 Fashion Trends I'm Wearing this Summer (Plus 1 that I Won't)

Whether you are planning a trip out of town for your first real vacation in what feels like a decade, or flying by the seat of your (very trendy) Mom jeans this Summer, it’s obvious that this season is a special one.

With the world reopening, I think it’s the perfect excuse to rip the bandaid off (aka toss that stretched-out, stained sweatsuit in the garbage) and get back to feeling stylish.

The extent of last Summer’s fashion trends (if you dare to call them “fashion”) were matching tie-dye sweatsuits and baggy t-shirts that somehow became dresses. While appearing to have forgotten my pants in public never actually became my go-to, I think I can speak for all of us when I say that it’s time to get dressed again.

Believe it or not, we can enjoy a carefree, effortless Summer while still putting some thought into what we’re wearing. Not only is getting yourself “ready” for the day proven to improve your mood, give you a boost of confidence, and lead to better productivity, but it’s FUN (remember!?!)

Whenever I fall into a fashion “rut”, feel uninspired, or just plain bored with my wardrobe, I like to open up my favorite app (Pinterest, of course) and spend some time scrolling through my feed.

In case you missed my big announcement, I officially launched my eBook, “How I Grew to 60 MILLION Impressions on Pinterest (my tips & tips, plus why it’s not as difficult as it seems” earlier this year. In saying this, it should come as no surprise that the majority of my style inspiration and outfit planning comes directly from this magical little app.

As I was scrolling through Pinterest last month searching for outfit ideas to recreate for the Summer, I began to notice some trends pop up. While not all trends are created equal and I never recommend ditching your personality or aesthetic in pursuit of every shiny thing that pops onto your feed, I DO think it’s fun to switch things up and try something new once in awhile.

This season in particular, there have been quite a few trends that have caught my eye already. From cottagecore to square toe sandals, bright and bold colors, mom jeans, and cut-out dresses, trends this Summer are certainly not boring. I think it’s safe to say that we have left the ultra-minimalist, neutral aesthetic in 2020 and are ready to embrace bold silhouettes, patterns, and colors again.

Today, I’m sharing the 5 fashion trends I’m loving right now (plus 1 you won’t catch me in and why)!

I have also included affordable shopping options to go alongside each of the 5 trends below:

The 1 Fashion Trend You Won’t Catch Me In this Summer

Trucker Hats

If you know me at all, this one probably seems very obvious. Trucker hats and me simply don’t mix. Some trends from the 2000’s that are making their way back around are ok with me, like low-rise jeans (just bought a pair this weekend), corset tops, and denim mini skirts, but the trucker hat just feels a little too casual for me.

So, while I can appreciate the tomboy aesthetic on other ladies, you won’t catch me trading in my feminine Parisian style to hop on board with this trend.
