Silver Sequin Gown + NYE Glam

Do you remember last year's holiday glam look? It was one of Sam and my first few posts together for the blog. It was a chilly 35 degrees and we decided to get dolled up and shoot at the Lincoln Memorial in the heart of DC. Well, since you guys loved watching us freeze our butts off SO much, we decided to go for it again this year!

A few weekends back, Sam and I made our way to DC in the morning with Jade Nikkole Photography where we twirled to music, goofed around, and nibbled on fancy chocolates from our friends at Godiva.

I ordered this silver sequin gown online this past June when Sam proposed because I thought I might wear it for our engagement session, or possibly the rehearsal dinner for our wedding. But when I got it in the mail, the sequin and tulle details were so glam that I knew that I couldn't possibly pass it up for NYE.

I've never had a super glitzy dress for NYE and Sam and I have never done the whole hotel-party-ball-drop-schebang. And, if we're really being honest here, I knew that I wouldn't be able to actually wear this for NYE this year either. We will be flying back from Montana that afternoon and driving straight to the Tilghman house to cozy up with our baby for the evening. We will definitely be making my favorite cocktails (the holiday moscow mules), and watching the ball drop on TV, but it's more likely than not that I'll still be in my sweats from the airport and not in this fancy sequin gown.

I knew that the only shot I had at wearing this gorgeous piece this year was recreating our holiday shoot at the Lincoln Memorial. I decided to rock a bold red lip to give this look a pop of color, and kept my eye makeup fairly simple. The only accents this dress needed was a fuzzy white shawl, crystal jewelry and sleek black pumps.

Sam looked beyond handsome in this charcoal grey suit with a printed tie and classic loafers. He paired this suit with his Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronometer watch.

Once again this year he kept me warm throughout the shoot, cuddling and warming my fingers between takes. It was so much fun to see the photos from this year and last in the same exact location side by side. It showed just how much we have changed in just one year; a year that felt like it passed in the blink of an eye.
