(The LPD) Little Polka Dot Dress
I love a classic LBD (little black dress) as much as the next gal. It's simple while still remaining elegant. That being said, sometimes you just have to switch up the routine and bring out your fun, flirty dress. That babe deserves a nice night out on the town, too. My favorite thing about this polka dot dress is how lightweight and breezy it is. I feel like I could twirl around in it all night; champagne in hand, of course.
Since I began working out again and getting into my comfortable, healthy lifestyle, I've been leaning toward shorter dresses and skirts more than ever. Nothing wrong with a little confidence boost, right? I'm not sure that I've ever been more excited to put the cold weather in my past and welcome Spring. In the meantime, while I am shopping ahead for the season, I am definitely favoring flirty, feminine pieces (think: blush, florals, and satin).
Last Saturday, I was 1 week in on my health-cleanse and I was determined to slip into my fancy, red bottom heels and strut around downtown with Sam. Now, you might realize this if you've been around these parts for a while but, let me just say that I am a HUGE fan of mixing high and low fashion pieces (we don't all have a Givenchy budget). So, when I found this polka dot dress for less than $20 - YES, you read that right - at Nordstrom Rack, I was so excited that I practically squealed in the dressing room when I tried it on and it fit perfectly. I knew that I would be able to dress it up with my favorite pair of heels, a simple white blazer (that I've had for years), and a black clutch. This combo elevated the dress and made the whole look feel more sophisticated without breaking the bank.
Sam's solid, black style worked with my dress perfectly and didn't over-complicate the look. One rule of thumb that we use when going out together is that if one of us is wearing a bold pattern, the other should keep their pieces simple and classic. Now, that's not to say that you won't see us at the grocery store on a Tuesday night in July styled in plaid, stripes, and Christmas colors. ;) Remember, we only appear to have it together sometimes.
