Black and White Coffee Run
What even is Spring cleaning anymore? I have packed and unpacked my closet at least 3 times in the past few months because of the ever-changing weather. That Mother Nature can be a sneaky, little troublemaker sometimes. Did you guys hear that we could possibly be getting SNOW tomorrow and Friday? Whhaat. From now on, I will be keeping my favorite wardrobe essentials like this lace-up sweater, and this breezy maxi dress on hand (lol!) You just never know these days.
More often than not on the weekends, Sam and I have plans; whether that is dinner with his parents, taking a day trip to explore a town new to us, shooting content, or meeting up with friends. It is ALWAYS an adventure and I absolutely wouldn't have it any other way.
However, sometimes when we don't have a "scheduled" weekend, I like to sneak away in the afternoon to the coffee shop near our home (Order & Chaos) and set up shop with either my laptop or a thick book. Sometimes, I'll stay for several hours totally unaware of the time, all-consumed in a great story or dreaming up new content.
Sam will generally give me a good, long eye roll if I tell him I'm going to work at the coffee shop because: A. it seems kiiiind of douchey (yes, I agree) and B. I have a home office upstairs that he created just for me so I wouldn't have to leave the house. Seems reasonable, right? You would think. But sometimes, no matter how hard I try to stay concentrated on my work from upstairs, I can hear my favorite show playing on the TV, or Oliver whimpering, and somehow downloading and editing 300 photos of a banana shake doesn't seem so important anymore. Even if I'm home alone working upstairs, I can slip into a creative rut or get writers' block out of left field and I can't think of a single, interesting thing to tell you.
There's something about being surrounded by strangers in a crowded coffee shop that calms and inspires me at the same time. Listening to them groan in frustration at something online, watching their fingers fly across the keyboard of their laptop, or sensing the comfort between two people as they read in the corner. All of this while sipping on my favorite almond milk latte and cozied up in a chunky knit, imaging myself talking face to face with you, my readers; all of it just makes my heart happy. I feel my anxious mind slipping away and it makes the conversation flow easier and feel more authentic. It reminds me of why I fell in love with blogging and created Lifestyle by Anna Elizabeth to begin with.
