Blush, Boho & A Jumpsuit

Last week in Maryland, we got a little taste of Spring (hallelujah). The sun was shining, the temperature was in the 50's, and I wore this jumpsuit on a date night in Frederick with Sam and I didn't get hypothermia. #Progress. These little bits and pieces of Spring weather have me feeling SO excited for the coming months. I can't express to you all just how much I am loving the fashion trends anticipated for this Spring. My personal style is primarily feminine-based so, seeing blush tones, florals ("for Spring!? groundbreaking"), and embroidered and frayed denim, makes my happiness level skyrocket.

This jumpsuit has already become one of my favorite pieces in my closet. When I snagged it off the rack in Urban Outfitters, I was a bit hesitant but, once I tried it on and saw Sam's expression, I knew it was a match. The fit is surprisingly flattering, the fabric is super soft (like, sleep-in-it-soft), and the color is right on trend. After comparing the design to Jasmine's in the classic Disney movie, Aladdin, Sam labeled it my "Arabian Nights" look. And, although I didn't quite go in that direction, it was an easy sell for me (it also retails for under $100 so, that's a bonus).

To be honest with you guys, I've always felt like a bit of a fashion failure or fraud because I haven't been able to nail down just one, consistent style. Fashion for me is more about how I'm feeling or who I want to "be" that day/night and I am trying my very best to just embrace it. This weekend in particular, I was feeling extra bold and wanted to enhance the blush jumpsuit with accessories that were fun and sexy. That is why I chose to wear my suede, lace-up choker and a shag vest that I snagged at a consignment boutique a few years back for under $60. But, I can see this jumpsuit absolutely going the other way with a classic, cream blazer, chic, pointed toe pumps, and a beaded clutch. Knowing me, I'm sure that I'll be styling it a ton of different ways this Spring and Summer for events, date nights, and happy hours with the girls.

I purchased this suede, lace-up choker from Free People last year when chokers started picking up speed again. It was unreasonably expensive for a tiny piece of fabric but, I rationalized it in my mind that it was a one-of-a-kind statement piece. Sadly enough, this look was the first time that I wore it; I totally forgot about it and when I did finally re-locate it, nothing seemed to compliment the look. I always thought that it overwhelmed my pretty dresses, or felt too complicated for a t-shirt and jeans. Thankfully, when I brought home this jumpsuit and started pulling options to style it, I realized that I had saved this choker for the PERFECT occasion. The suede complimented the blush tone so well, and it gave this outfit the added dash of edge that it needed for a date night in the city.
