Valentine's Day Blush Lace Gown

This Valentine's Day may have just been my favorite yet. Sam and I celebrated the holiday 2 weekends back because he has been traveling for work. His schedule is a little unpredictable at the moment and we never know when we will get a chance to go to a nice dinner together. So, we jumped at the opportunity when he was home. I made reservations at one of our most beloved restaurants in the city, Food Market, to follow this styled shoot at Anthem House.

It was perfect timing because throughout the styled shoot we got to be extra romantic, snuggle, and talk about Valentine's Days prior. To be completely honest, we haven't always had the best luck with Valentine's Day in the past. Our second year together I set off all of the smoke alarms in Sam's house trying to surprise him with homemade baked donuts before he woke up for work... so it was like 3am. He also had a roommate at the time. #Sorrrry

Another Valentine's Day, we were dressed up about to head downtown for dinner when he got an emergency work call. I was so distraught about spending the holiday by myself that I ended up tagging along and we slept in the car on the job site and watched movies on our Ipad. Then, just last year Sam and I snuck away to Tilghman Island for the weekend and we ended up getting a speeding ticket on our way to dinner which made us miss our reservation.

Now that's not to say that all of our Valentine's Days have been disasters; every single one has been memorable and filled with love and usually a laugh (if not during, at least afterward). But, it was kind of nice to make our own luck this year and plan this romantic dinner for just the two of us downtown.

After shooting this romantic look at Anthem House, Sam and I ditched our phones, snuck off to Hampden and had a slow, meaningful dinner which is something we do not take for granted. We only have so much quality time together these days between work weeks, so when we get to sit across from each other and enjoy a nice meal with conversation not revolving around wedding planning or work, it truly is special.

Now, a little bit about this look: I ordered this dress from LuLu's (one of my favorite places to shop for gowns). They have super affordable dresses that are high quality and definitely on trend. The only warning I give is that if you're not 6 feet tall, you'll most likely have to get the dress hemmed. This is coming from a signature short girl over here, but keep that in mind when ordering their dresses. Also, I always order a size down (definitely an XS if they have it) because I find that the sizes run a little bigger than most brands.

If you follow along on Instagram, you've likely seen me mention Megan from Honeycomb Hair Artistry. She is the woman behind my blonde hair color and cut, and any fancy up-do that is featured. Remember this milkmaid braid that you guys loved so much? Well, this time we wanted to go the more romantic route in celebration of Valentine's Day, so she styled this gorgeous chignon bun and finished it off with a headpiece from ASOS.

Speaking of which, ASOS has a ton of amazing headpieces right now (like this open heart hair clip) and I am utterly obsessed. I've linked a bunch at the bottom.

I styled this pink lace gown with my nude pointed toe heels, and a shaggy vest for a little extra flair. Sam kept it gentlemanly and did a white button-down shirt with slacks, and a brown leather belt and loafers. It was the perfect look for a romantic date night in the city.
