Shades of Pink in Washington Square Park

I've barely just unpacked my bags from our quick stay in NYC last month and, I'll be honest, I'm already ready to head back. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely adore our hometown of Baltimore, but NYC fills my soul with a totally new energy. It also reminded me that traveling to new places with Sam is so good for our relationship. We cherish our time that we get to spend together during the workweek when he's home and we can cook dinner, go on a walk, or watch our favorite TV shows. But, when we're in a new place together we get to see each other in another light; it's a bit more carefree and adventurous. Our conversations easily go beyond the routine "how was your day?", and oftentimes we talk for hours walking around and learning new things about each other (even after 7 years together).

As structured and "type-A" as I am in my everyday life, it even surprises me how relaxed and laid-back I feel every time I'm traveling with Sam. When we're on vacation we both love to do as little planning as possible and just truly go with the flow. It has resulted in some of the most romantic and fun moments we've had as a couple.

One of the places we wanted to explore on our last day in NYC was Washington Square Park in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of Lower Manhattan. I had seen the famous Washington Square Arch, modeled after the Arc de Triomphe, all over Instagram and it made me nostalgic about my trip to Paris 15+ years ago. So, after an early morning spent watching the sunrise on the Brooklyn Bridge, grabbing breakfast together, and visiting the Ground Zero memorial, we wandered over to the iconic park.

It was a sunny Spring day, so it was no surprise that to us that it was packed full of kids running around, couples grabbing lunch together, and live music and entertainment. We spent some time roaming around, taking in the view of the architecture, and of course snapping some sweet photos to remember our time there.

My pink off the shoulder dress featured in this flirty weekend OOTD by Tobi is currently on sale for under $50 and comes in 3 colors. I paired it with a blush pink wool fedora I found on Poshmark, my DIY "Wifey" pink denim jacket, and of course these signature pointed toe pumps (that go with me literally everywhere).

I will be sharing the full DIY tutorial for this custom "Wifey" denim jacket on the blog in the coming weeks for those of you who are interested! After seeing a similar design retailed online for over $700, I decided to put my own feminine twist on it and created one that I loved even more for less than $40 TOTAL (pink distressed denim jacket included). It was such a fun, inexpensive, and simple process to make and it has quickly become a treasured piece in my closet. #Brideonabudget

Sam's weekend look was a white Rag & Bone tee, khaki joggers, and his bright New Balance sneakers that I'm obsessed with. It was the perfect outfit for walking around NYC comfortably while still remaining stylish.

Full disclosure: I switched out my pointed toe pumps for pink sneakers (also under $50) while exploring the city in the afternoon. A girl has gotta be comfortable while shopping, ya know?
