Wearing My Heart on My Sleeve
If I had to choose one holiday that represents my personality and style, Valentine’s Day would be it hands down. Feminine shades of pink and red, heart-shaped chocolates, and all of the mushy love notes you could possibly ever want? Yes, please. I mean, have ya seen my Instagram?
As a hopeless romantic, I have always loved Valentine’s Day. When I was little, my parents used to make a big deal out of it and get us stuffed teddy bears, chocolates, and roses. One time, my Dad even showed up to our middle school cafeteria with a homemade heart-shaped cake to give us in front of all of our friends.
As I got older, the expectation of feeling extra special on this day each year never faded. Thankfully, Sam is just as romantic (if not more so) than I am, so celebrating this holiday together is something we definitely look forward to. We switch up our plans for celebrating it almost every year; we’ve done 3-course dinners at home, went out to fancy restaurants, had romantic weekends away, and once even made a DIY drive-in movie theater at a job site because he got called on a work emergency. We were determined to spend the holiday together, even if it wasn’t particularly glamorous.
This will be our 8th Valentine’s Day spent together and our 1st married one. Although we haven’t set any plans in stone yet, I have no doubt that it will one to remember.
No matter what we wind up doing, at least I’ll have a cute outfit set aside for it (no surprise there, huh?) This heart sweater from ChicWish, an online women’s clothing boutique, is the perfect piece for celebrating Valentine’s Day without feeling over-the-top or cheesy. It’s understated and stylish, comes in 4 colors (I just ordered the grey one too), and is under $50!
A few of my other favorites for V-Day: Pink Fuzzy Hearts Knit Sweater, Hear Your Heart Beating Cropped Sweater, and Healing Your Heart Knit Sweater.
I paired this mock turtleneck sweater with my go-to pink denim pants, a light pink beret, strappy heels, and my new quilted Chanel bag.
Sam and I definitely had a cutesy morning while shooting this look on a rooftop in downtown Baltimore. We were cuddling, twirling, and using my red Beetle as a fun backdrop. We even snuck a few chocolates in at the end for breakfast!
