Pregnancy Style: 5 Must-Have Maternity Staples
Among the things that have taken me by surprise over the past 7 months while I’ve been pregnant is definitely the adjustment to maternity style. When I found out that we were expecting last August, I confidently told my Mom and sisters that I wouldn’t be buying ANY new maternity clothes. I was sure that I could live in dresses and my normal stretchier-style clothes the entire 9 months.
Now, let’s all take a moment and have a big ole’ laugh at how naive I was.
I had no clue that I wouldn’t be able to squeeze into a single pair of my jeans merely 14 weeks in, that my dresses I had categorized as “loose-fitting” would become unflatteringly tight and uncomfortable, and that even my basic leggings (MY LEGGINGS, for Pete’s sake) would make me feel like I was suffocating by the 3rd trimester.
Over the years while dreaming of becoming pregnant, I had admired the stylish pregnant women all over Pinterest and Instagram that were dressed head to toe in effortlessly chic, magazine-worthy outfits. Of ALL of the fashion inspiration that I’ve loved over the years, pregnancy style has always been my number one.
With that being said, although it has admittedly taken some unexpected adjustments, I feel like I’m getting into my pregnancy-style groove at last. Better late than never, right? I have loved my growing belly since the very moment that I saw the word “pregnant” on those 2 little tests and I truly think that I’ll miss it once it’s gone in less than 10 weeks.
Getting dressed during this pregnancy (while frustrating and laughable at times, especially now when I can barely see my feet) feels so special because I know that it is a season in my life that I won’t get back. I am trying my best to cherish every single moment with my littlest love still in my belly.
My latest find is this mini white babydoll dress with gold star details and puff sleeves (it also comes in black and pink). It was originally my back-up plan for my baby shower coming up (I’m now going with this one instead because it fits the “vibe” better).
When I got it in the mail and tried it on, I was immediately smitten. It fits my feminine taste so well and can easily be dressed up (with heels) or down (with boots or slides). For size reference, I ordered a size Small which is my normal size before and during pregnancy.
Speaking of boots, this beige faux crocodile pair (which could also pass as light pink) are my newest obsession. They’re also available online in a brighter pink color along with 4 other colors, but I felt like these were perfectly girly without being too bright for my aesthetic. For size reference, I ordered a size 7 (I can usually go between a 7 and a 7.5) and they fit perfectly.
I styled my new dress and boots with 2 classic staples from my wardrobe that I grab time and time again: my favorite pink hat of all time and my quilted Chanel purse.
Today, in addition to my new favorite outfit, I wanted to share my 5 MUST-HAVE maternity staples that can get you through all three trimesters.
I’ve found that I gravitate toward these 5 items in my wardrobe daily and I am able to style them with ease (and comfort) while keeping my personal fashion sense in tact.

3. a pair of comfortable maternity leggings
