10 Spring to Summer Style Essentials
As the weather warms up and we begin to adjust to our new sense of “normal” this Spring and Summer, there are a few wardrobe staples that I believe are essential to have on hand.
Whether you are grilling out in the backyard, having a special date night on the beach, supporting a local business, or simply trying to feel like yourself indoors, sometimes putting on a pretty outfit can make all the difference in your day.
Although it may seem silly to be sharing fashion advice with the current situation going on in the world, I believe it is important to continue to invest in ourselves and do things that make us feel confident and happy.
Personally, when I get dressed up in my favorite clothes even if only for a quick grocery store run or to sit in the garden with Sam, I notice a huge shift in my overall attitude.
To put it simply, getting ready is my form of self-care.
Now, that may seem shallow to some people, but honestly I think that getting dressed is the same for me as someone else completing their daily workout or a 15 minute meditation.
When I’m wearing something I love, I feel like myself. Somehow it seems as if the outside of me matches the inside; like my appearance is an accurate reflection of the light, feminine, and positive person I am.
“They tell me clothes are frivolous, silly, not important. But then I ask what they do as soon as they wake up? They decide what to wear. And in that moment they dream up who they will be that day. And isn’t that important? Isn’t that part of who we are? Who we are isn’t frivolous or silly.
Clothes are important even in their simplest forms : incredibly comfortable, the outfit you wear when you’re hungover or too tired… or differently, like this dress, a dream all in itself. What hangs off our bodies is a daily projection of how we feel, our priorities, what we want to project onto the world.
And so for anyone who chooses to roll their eyes at that, I wonder just how deeply they see anything at all. Because it’s often the simplest choices we make on a daily basis that impact us the most… Because if you’re willing to open your eyes wide enough, there is art and meaning in everything.” - Frassy Audrey
I wanted to share that quote because I find myself returning to it whenever I begin to feel silly, or worse, ashamed, for caring about how I look or putting effort into what I’m wearing when there are much heavier things going on in the world.
Styling a cute pink outfit and helping you do the same may not assist directly in this crisis, but if it makes even one person’s day a little brighter, gives them something to look forward to, or simply makes them feel like themselves for a few hours, I think that it is worth sharing.
