A Pink and Snowy Getaway to Deep Creek
Winter is coming to an end, and although I think we can all be thankful for the warmer temperatures and brighter days ahead, I have to say that I’ll miss looking out the window and watching the snow fall. We had our fair share of snow days over the past few months, but my favorite by far was when I was able to enjoy it on the lake. It’s no secret that I’m a sucker for an #Instaworthy backdrop.
We had our 2nd annual trip to Deep Creek last month with 8 of our friends where we spent the weekend playing board games, watching murder shows, stuffing our faces with snacks, and testing our will to live with every step on the frozen lake (dramatic, I know). We stayed in an enormous rental house complete with a sauna, jacuzzi, pool table, wrap around porch, and fireplace. Oh and not to mention, the house just so happens to overlook the gorgeous lake, making for an ideal spot to enjoy my morning coffee.
Sam and I arrived a couple hours before everyone else on Friday so that we could play around with my camera and shoot a beauty campaign without taking away from downtime with our friends. It hadn’t been particularly cold in Baltimore that week, so we were nervous about how the area would look if the snow had melted. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the view and took full advantage of the Winter-Wonderland aesthetic.
The first outfit I wore during our snowy getaway was a light pink turtleneck with a faux fur stole, white jeans, white pom beanie, and a pair of light suede booties.
I am wearing the lipstick shade #56 “Classic Saintpaulia” from Jill Stuart Beauty in both of these looks. Trying out something a bit more rich and bold than my usual nudes and pinks was a fun change. It helped me get outside of my comfort zone and embrace more of a “glam” look (without going over the top). You can check out this campaign in my recent Instagram post!
It was clear when I began packing for this trip that my mauve pink teddy coat would be a key staple for my weekend. I wore it non-stop, from lounging around the house with leggings (because it feels like a cozy blanket) to wearing it out to dinner with white jeans (are you surprised?) The shade of pink was right up my alley and went perfectly with all of my favorite Winter white accessories.
If you’ve been following along for awhile, you know that one of my favorite places to shop is ChicWish, an affordable and on-trend women’s clothing boutique. They have been a partner on the blog for some time now, and are known for having an incredible selection of sweaters and coats online. Needless to say, this piece was no exception.
Bonus: it is on sale for under $60 AND comes in 4 colors!
